<text>Discusses problems and opportunities associated with searching for genealogical information on the Web, based on an interview with Mary Casteleyn, former chair of the Council of the Irish Genealogical Research Society (IGRS), current member of the Council, a Fellow of the IGRS, and a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. Using the very popular topic of genealogy as a case study, shows why there needs to be qualitative analysis of information sources on the Internet carried out by an information expert, i.e., much the same job of evaluation that a librarian traditionally did in selecting library materials. Explains why not all online information resources are as accurate and reliable as one would hope. Concludes that the advent of Internet genealogy offers some outstanding opportunities while at the same time laying traps for the innocent and genealogically uneducated researcher.</text>
